Panera for $5 is hard… Why is the food so good there?

Panera Bread

Lunch: Panera Kids meal (ham sandwich, strawberry yogurt)

Price: $4.27

What I wanted: Anything else on the menu

Conclusion: Panera for $5 is possible, but not my favorite. Especially when I see all the other possibilities! I mean … their ingredients in everything else are so much fun. Sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, artichokes, smoked turkey, paninis, yummy salads, the you-pick-two thing. But those are all in the more-than-five-bucks club.

I remember having the conversation with my mom once that Panera Bread would be a great place to brainstorm names for children.

Let’s try it: http://www.panerabread.com/menu/cafe/sandwiches.php

Ciabatta, Asiago, Focaccia, Semolina, Gouda, Sierra… No? Ok. I never said they would be normal names, to be fair.

The good thing about Panera kids’ meals is that they give you this little squeezable yogurt thing with your sandwich. The yogurt is really good! I got two today. One from the cashier and one from the food-makers. I guess I could have said something…

So the other day I gave a $10 bill at a Starbucks drive thru and they accidentally gave me change as if I’d paid with a $20. I waited nearly two minutes for someone to come back to the window so that I could return the EXTRA change…but I guess that’s just the difference between me and you, huh? :P te he he

I felt a liiiittle bit bad about taking two. BUT I think the guy saw my first yogurt, saw the size of the meal I ordered (tiny), saw the hunger in my eyes and had pity on me. So I took it more like a kind gift…

I rationalize things when I’m hungry?

I went to Kroger’s 4 weeks ago @ 10:30 PM at night to get $20 worth of city trash stickers. I first had to wait 3 minutes for someone to come to the service desk to help me. I gave them $20 and I got a few pages of the stickers and walked off. As I started to walk out, I counted the stickers and noticed I had 20 stickers (10 too many). I went back to the service desk and had to wait 7 minutes to return the 10 extra stickers…that’s what I get for trying to be nice.

I mean – um, kudos on being kind and honest. That’s what I meant. :)
